FY 2026 Budget: On May 30, the president released a more detailed budget request for FY 2026. It proposes a 13% increase in defense spending and a nearly 65% increase in appropriations for the Department of Homeland Security. And nondefense discretionary spending would be reduced by $163 billion, or 22.6%.
